Trevor Wicklund (b. 2001) is a Chicago-based composer, arranger, and producer, specializing in music for film, video games, and concert orchestra.
He has been writing music since 2020, originally inspired by the rich harmonies of jazz and the memorable melodies and soundscapes of video games. Two main pillars of focus in Trevor's work are harmony and texture, and he puts an emphasis on blending electronic and orchestral elements to create a unique artistic voice.
While attending Columbia College Chicago, Trevor had many opportunities to have his work professionally performed and recorded, including writing music based on a Latin mass and composing a score inspired by Lotte Reiniger's animated film The Adventures of Prince Achmed (1926). In his final semester, he collaborated with the college's School of Theatre and Dance to write accompanying music for live performance. He also performed with and wrote for the college's New Music Ensemble for three semesters, and has scored various short films directed by local Chicago filmmakers.
Some of his musical influences include Ryuichi Sakamoto, Masashi Hamauzu, Lili Boulanger, Disasterpeace, Thundercat, and Jaco Pastorius. Apart from being inspired by music from his favorite composers and musicians, Trevor is also deeply influenced by other creative media such as film, literature, and art, and always has an element of storytelling tied to his music.
